Lotronex, a treatment for irritable bowel syndrome, has been recalled by the manufacturer, Glaxo Wellcome, due to several deaths and numerous reports of severe constipation and resulting bowel obstruction or perferation. Ischemic colitis (a life threating interference with blood flow to the intestinal tract) has also been reported as a result of taking Lotronex.
